Trimite Powders to double size of Spartanburg Plant

Trimite Global Coatings are delighted to announce it is expanding its footprint in Spartanburg County.

Trimite will invest $3.7m to double its existing facility at 5680 North Blackstock Road.

“Trimite Powders has enjoyed over 20 years of success in Spartanburg County since expanding from the United Kingdom to open its only North American production facility,” the company’s President Dean Edwards said in statement. “While this expansion will not generate any new immediate job growth, it positions the Spartanburg facility to capitalize on increased demand for our products and prepares us for the next stage of our growth plan. This new capacity will enable Trimite to continue expanding its high quality powder coatings into a variety of markets”.

“Integral Solutions has been a longtime corporate neighbor of Trimite, and we are thrilled to see yet another existing industry in Spartanburg County continue to invest in their facility, workforce and community” said Russ Weber, President of Integral Solutions Group and Chairman of the Spartanburg County Economic Futures Group.

Trimite Ltd was founded in 1945 in the UK. The company brought its philosophy of high quality, flexible order sizes and fast service across the pond to Spartanburg in 1991.

Trimite continued to experience steady annual growth since its inception. The facility was last expanded in early 1998 when the company increased to twice its original size.

Spartanburg Community College’s Center for Business and Entrepreneurial development in Duncan will provide the company with temporary space to store its new production equipment while construction is underway.

The building work is set for completion in January 2014, with Roebuck Buildings Co. constructing the plant addition.

“We love to see companies continue to add production and technology,” said Carter Smith, executive vice president of the Economic Futures Group. “These investments add to the county’s tax revenue and benefit local school districts. But helping local companies continue to grow – that’s priority number one”.
